Our
Vision
"Then
the Lord answered me and said, 'Record the vision
and inscribe it on tablets, that the one who
reads it may run. For the vision is yet for
the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal,
and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait
for it; for it will certainly come, it will
not delay'."
Habakkuk 2:2,3

God
begins everything with a seed, then it germinates,
sprouts up and begins to grow, and finally becomes
a mature, fruit-bearing plant. The Music Department
at ICC is the same way. God started us with
a seed and over time He is maturing us and growing
us up. We must humble ourselves in His hand
and allow His plan to be accomplished in our
midst.
At
the current time we have two bands - a worship
band and a special band, a praise team, and
a youth worship team. As God continues to bless
us, we will incorporate additional teams to
minister in the various ministries of the church.
Eventually, when we are mature enough to handle
it, it is our desire to send out music teams
to minister in conjunction with evangelistic
outreach teams. However, this will be in God's
timing and only at His leading.
As
a music ministry team, our first and foremost
purpose is to glorify God through music. Our
goal is to provide leadership by example for
the congregation to enter into God's holy presence
and to offer up spiritual sacrifices, the fruit
of our lips giving thanks
(Hebrews 13:15),
always magnifying Jesus, not ourselves. We are
here to serve the body of Christ at Independence
Christian Center.

Our
Purpose
The first and foremost
function of the music ministry team is to glorify
God, recognizing that whatever we do should bring
the people into praise and worship, always magnifying
Jesus, not ourselves. By doing that, we desire
to create an atmosphere in which the Holy Spirit
is welcome and pleased to move. Secondly, we provide
a visual inspiration and encouragement to the
congregation. We act as initiators in praise and
worship. Sometimes the cares and worries of this
world cling to us as we gather together to worship.
The worship team's responsibility is to be prepared
to enter God's presence and assist the congregation
in entering as well.
"And do not get drunk
with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled
with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms
and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making
melody with your heart to the Lord;…"
Ephesians
5:18,19 |

"Let
the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with
all wisdom
teaching and admonishing one another with psalms
and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in
your hearts to God."
Colossians 3:16 |
