PASTOR'S PEN
When Nehemiah and Ezra led the children of Judah back to Jerusalem to rebuild the city, the temple and even the land, not everyone wanted to leave Babylon. The Jews had been there over 70 years and had become quite comfortable (and prosperous) with life there. But God’s will was to rebuild His city, and His temple. It required time, effort, commitment and even sacrifice. Hard decisions were made and enemies arose but God empowered His people. I believe we are entering a period much like that when God will be requiring more of us – but great things are already happening and whatever we give up for the kingdom will come back to us pressed down, shaken together and running over. Let’s be sensitive in our spiritual hearing and quick to respond. What an awesome time to serve the Lord!

An atheist was spending a quiet day fishing when suddenly his boat was attacked by the Loch Ness monster. In one easy flip, the beast tossed him and his boat high into the air. Then it opened its mouth to swallow both.

As the man sailed head over heels, he cried out, "Oh, my God! Help me!"

At once, the ferocious attack scene froze in place, and as the atheist hung in mid-air, a booming voice came down from the clouds, "I thought you didn't believe in Me!"

"Come on God, give me a break!!" the man pleaded. "Two minutes ago I didn't believe in the Loch Ness monster either!"
